Hi, iam thinking of buying printer * lexmark t430 laserjet .,the problem is that its toner is not available?

hi, iam thinking of buying printer * lexmark t430 laserjet .,the problem is that its toner is not available in my country , the place from where i am buying bring that printer from some other place.,the question is that toner which comes with printer can be refilled ,and how many times it can be refilled ? is that a good printer %26amp; and does this printers toner refillable ??Hi, iam thinking of buying printer * lexmark t430 laserjet .,the problem is that its toner is not available?
why not just get one where the toner is ready available or look online and buy itHi, iam thinking of buying printer * lexmark t430 laserjet .,the problem is that its toner is not available?
I would recomend printers from the ';Brother'; brand name.

They have printer cartridges that cost 1 Euro a piece ($1:50) and you can buy them online and get them shipped to you.

Or go to Lexmark.com and check under their ';store'; for specific Lexmark cartridges...for the printer you seem to want.

I wouldn麓t buy a printer that I wasn麓t certain I could get ink cartridges for....

HP Laserjet in Economode, will it wore out toner cartridge?

On almost all HP laser printers, there is a built in toner saver mode called economode which is supposed to use 50% less toner per printed page. If you only print text and don't care about the more draft-like look, economode will suffice. BUT I read a blurb from an HP manual that recommends not using this setting full-time because it's possible the toner supply will outlast the mechanical parts inside the cartridge. Has anyone experienced any worn mechanical parts and if so, does it make any difference in your opinion of whether to turn on economode or not?HP Laserjet in Economode, will it wore out toner cartridge?
Under normal circumstances it will not wear out the toner cartridge. Cartridges can be remanufactured multiple times before any type of significant wear occurs to normal parts. Wiper blades and drums get replaced every time the cartridge is empty by any reputable remanufacturer. The blurb you are referencing is below also with the special circumstances that it would take to ';wear'; out the cartridge.

HP does not recommend the full-time use of EconoMode. If EconoMode is used full-time when the average toner coverage is significantly less than 5%, it is possible that the toner supply will outlast the mechanical parts in the print cartridge. If print quality begins to degrade under these circumstances, you must install a new print cartridge, even if there is toner supply remaining in the cartridge.

Yield is usually based on 5% coverage on the page (considered a standard business letter with 1'; margins or 1';x1'; square solid black).

If you are printing only a couple of sentences per page using economode your drum will wear out before you run out of toner is the essence of what HP is trying to say. They are not saying don't use economode...they are saying if you do be aware of this special circumstance.HP Laserjet in Economode, will it wore out toner cartridge?
Okay, here is why HP would say that. THE CARTRIDGE IS THEIR BREAD AND BUTTER. If you go through a cartridge slower, it means you will not buy one as quick as they would want you to. If the cartridge parts wear out, it means it is a bad cartridge, not cause you were in eco mode. If it does that for you, call up HP and complain. The cartridge should work perfectly in eco, normal, and best modes.

The printers you buy do not give a big profit for the manufacture, the money comes from the cartridges.

HP 4500 Color LaserJet, How do you rotate toner carriage?

Aside from the normal operator applications when a toner cartridge is low or empty, how do you enter a service mode to make it rotate and what is the procedure?HP 4500 Color LaserJet, How do you rotate toner carriage?
You don't need to enter the Service Mode in order to rotate the carousel to the desired color toner that you wish to replace. Instructions are usually included with new toner cartridges.

It's been several months since I've had to work on one and don't remember exactly how it was done. Of course you know how it is and how you remember things when you have a machine in front of you rather than working from memory.

    Try this:

    1. The printer must be turned on and the top cover must be shut.

    2. On the printer control panel, press [Select] to position the empty toner cartridge for replacement.

    3. Press [Value[(+)] until the color toner cartridge desired is displayed in the control panel display, wait for the carousel to turn and stop %26amp; then open the access cover.

This is basically covered in the basic Installation Guide:

    http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs鈥?/a>

You can also manually rotate the carousel if it becomes necessary. I could try to describe it, but found it covered along with pictures in the instructions listed on the last page in this document:

    http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs鈥?/a>

Doing it this way can be somewhat tricky as you have to align the cartridge with the guides just right and release the carousel brake/lock to hold it there so that the cartridge can be removed and installed easily. You'll see what I mean if you try it.

Best of luck.HP 4500 Color LaserJet, How do you rotate toner carriage?
    Turn the printer off

Hold down the CANCEL JOB and SELECT keys and turn the printer on, then wait until the display goes blank and the three LED's come on

Press the right side of the MENU key, then press the SELECT key

You will enter SERVICE MODE after the normal test completes

Press the ITEM key until the toner appears

Press VALUE /- to change to zero

    Press SELECT to save

Press GO; the printer should return to READY

  • Have a hp 2600n color laserjet printer, got the ';refill toner';?

instead of a new cartridge. now the page has an entire grey shade to it. i only replaced the black toner, wanted to see if it worked, guess not. any help? i was told to print 20-30 sheets and it should go away, after 90-100 sheets it is still there. is it possible that some toner powder spilled out of of the filled side to the waste side then out of the waste side and into the cartridge? if so, can it be saved/fixed/cleaned. I did notice that after i filled it, the waste side had a bunch of toner in it, where it was empty. any help with this would be great.Have a hp 2600n color laserjet printer, got the ';refill toner';?
No, it is not possible that the waste toner spills out and back into the cartridge. They are in separate sections and it cannot go back around to be used again.

What is happening in your cartridge/printer is that the toner that is used in your refilled cartridge is not exactly compatible with the printer. This makes sense because the original manufacturers spend a tonne of money in R%26amp;D to make sure everything works well together.

The toner's electrostatic properties are not balanced, so in areas where it is supposed to be repelled totally (the blank part of your printed paper), a bit of it is getting attracted to the drum. So you get a shade of grey that covers everything, hence your entire sheet of paper has some little bit of black toner on it (so it looks grey to the eye).

In an original cartridge, toner is formulated so that it only goes to where it is supposed to and gets repelled from where it is not supposed to go.

There is not really a lot you can do except to change the cartridge to an original or try another refiller to see if their toner is slightly better. Or if it is not too serious, you can live with it. Some situations will make this look even worse, eg. using glossy media or in high humidity conditions.Have a hp 2600n color laserjet printer, got the ';refill toner';?
just call a professional help on this one, you'r printer need a major check up, refilled toner are okay to used , but beware how it is refilled , and i know there s a chip replacement on every toner cartridges in order to work on your printer.

No you can not refill the toner cartridge, the thing is you do not want to, you can not breath in toner dust, once you breath it in it has no way of leaving the body goes right to the lungs, also the Dr blade in the cartridge is usually done by the time the toner runs out, so you will end up with a toner mess you can not clean unless you have a toner vacuum, shop around for a laser printer that you can get the cartridge for, also other parts you might need later on, hope this helps and good luckHi, iam thinking of buying printer * lexmark t430 laserjet .,the problem is that its toner is not available?

Question about refilling toner- HP Laserjet P1006?

Hello. I was wanted to buy a toner refill kit for my printer.

I was wondering if the reset chip that some kits include are Absolutely Necessary for the printer to function like new.

The reset chip costs an extra 12 bucks, so I don't really want to have to buy it, but if I have to, i guess I should.

I was also wondering if there is a limit to the number of times you can refill a toner cartridge.

Thanks!Question about refilling toner- HP Laserjet P1006?
You do absolutely need the chip.

Generally speaking you will be lucky to refill a toner once. The green electrostatic roller wears out very quickly and you will see a decline in print quality rapidly.

It is not recommended to refill toners for a variety of reasons.

The first is of course the toner dust itself is very toxic stuff.

Secondly, the chip is difficult to install and get working properly.

Third you will be lucky to get one full life cycle out of a toner.

Fourth, there are mechanical parts in a toner that if they wear out and break down can cause irreparable damage to your printer.

If you are looking to cut cost look into professionally factory refurbished toners. They will have replaced the nylon gears, chips and electrostatic roller.Question about refilling toner- HP Laserjet P1006?
Don't worry about any thing, but there is a limit to refilling.

How can i refill HP Laserjet 1320 Black Toner cartridge 49A?

procedure required. How can i refill HP Laserjet 1320 Black Toner cartridge 49A?
There's a lot more to it than plunking toner in. There are parts that need to be replaced (their lifespan is approximately one cycle of toner; drum, blade, chip).

If you want to save money, buy a quality remanufactured cartridge. Filling an inkjet cartridge is one thing, but filling your own toner cartridge is totally different.

BTW, your machine also takes a 49X high yield cartridge. I recommend that one: you get two-and-a-half times the toner, without paying two-and-a-half times the price. How can i refill HP Laserjet 1320 Black Toner cartridge 49A?
Actually it is now quite easy. Just purchase a refill kit from rechargex.com and you can do this twice. Save $$$$$$$$ Report Abuse

You go to the computer store and purchase a new ink cartage, Accidents with a nice printer is not worth cutting corners.
Note that refilling the toner is only half the story. By simply refilling the area containing the toner you are allowing the ';toner reserve receptacle'; to fill with additional leftover toner from print jobs. When this receptacle is filled the toner will spill out and will make your unit dirty, to say the least.
You need to purchase a refill kit, it come with instruction and the correct toner powder, you save half the cost and may get more output than the original, maybe not as black but should be acceptable. You need to punch a hole and fill the toner, then seal back with a tape. Be careful, not all toner powder are the same, buy the kit and you wouldn't go wrong. Depend on which country you are in, should be able to search supplier.

  • Extend HP Color LaserJet 2600n toner cartridge usage beyond ';empty';?

My printer was printing out black text just fine, suddenly flashed a message I needed to replace the black toner cartridge and stopped working. My old LaserJet 2 would let me take the cartridge out, rock it back and forth to fill the toner holes and I would get more mileage out of it, even letting me print pages with obvious light streaks in it even with the ';replace cartridge'; message flashing. This new printer gave no warning and even taking the cartridge out and shaking/rocking it did not let me get any more pages out of it.

Does anyone know how to ';fool'; this printer so I can at least limp along until I buy a new cartridge? I know some printers you can cover a sensor or hole with tape to fool it...Extend HP Color LaserJet 2600n toner cartridge usage beyond ';empty';?
Yes, you can override that to allow continued printing. Below is the text straight from the User's manual (page 94 in my manual):

The HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer displays an Order supplies message when a cartridge is running low and a Replace supplies message when a cartridge has been depleted. To ensure optimal print quality, HP recommends replacing a cartridge when the Replace supplies message is displayed. Replacing the cartridge at this point can help prevent waste of media or other cartridges when one cartridge produces poor print quality.

The Cartridge Out Override feature allows the printer to continue using a cartridge that has reached the recommended replacement point.

WARNING! Using Override may result in unsatisfactory print quality and unavailability of certain features (such as toner remaining information).

WARNING! All print defects or supply failures incurred when an HP supply is used in Override will not be considered defects in materials or workmanship in the supply under HP's Print Cartridge Limited Warranty Statement.

    Configuration

Cartridge Out Override can only be enabled from the printer's control panel menu.

    1. From the main menu, press (RIGHT ARROW) to System setup and press Check Mark button (SELECT).

    2. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Print quality and press the Check Mark button (SELECT).

    3. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Replace supplies and press Check Mark button (SELECT).

    4. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Override out and press Check Mark button (SELECT).

    5. Press (Check Mark button SELECT).

If Stop at out is selected, the printer will stop printing when a cartridge reaches the recommended replacement point. If Override out is selected, the printer will continue printing when a cartridge reaches the recommended replacement point. The factory default setting is Stop at out.

    On-going operation

Override can be enabled or disabled at any time, and does not have to be re-enabled for each cartridge. The printer will automatically continue printing when a cartridge reaches recommended replacement. The printer will display a message Replace supply Override in use while a cartridge is used in Override mode. When the cartridge is replaced with a new supply, Override will de-activate until another cartridge reaches recommended replacement.

Best of luck, Hope that helps.Extend HP Color LaserJet 2600n toner cartridge usage beyond ';empty';?
Unlike your laserjet 2, your 2600 has a smart chip.

You cannot fool it. The chip acts as an on/off switch. When the printer determines the cartridge is empty it turns it off.
The HP 2600 has a smart chip in the cartridge. It'd be more expensive to try and fool it than replace it.

    HP Laserjet Printer (toner) question?

At work I have an HP Laserjet 1022 that uses toner. It seems like the toner needs to be replaced almost monthly. Is this a common thing? I do print a lot off of this printer--probably 300-500 pages a week.

I am getting the third degree at work about the amount of toner that ';I'; am using...I guess they think I'm stealing it! LOL

I just wanted someone to see if they can help me find information about this printer and the amount of toner it needs or how much one toner should last.

Best answer should direct me to a site about this printer. EASY TEN POINTS, PEOPLE!!!!

Thanks in advance %26gt;^.^%26lt;HP Laserjet Printer (toner) question?
    Hello again Missy.

This is a common problem... people buy these little pc's of crap because they are being cheap and want to ';save money';. In the long run, however, they are more expensive. They chew up consumables like a kid eating candy. Yeah, you get the printer cheap, but the Manufacturer makes it's money off of you by you buying their pricey consumables wayyyyyy too frequently.

Here is part of the review taken directly from CNET.....

';The good-looking HP LaserJet 1022 offers quality prints and a small size to please space-strapped solo users and students. While this machine's sturdy good looks add a professional air to your work environment, its noisy operation may give you headaches, and the LaserJet 1022's pricier-than-average toner refills may give bargain seekers pause. If you need a basic but quality printer for reports and graphs, the plucky LaserJet 1022 is up to the challenge, although its paper-handling and printing options are too limited for power users. You can pay extra for versions of this printer with either embedded Ethernet or wireless networking capabilities, but while this machine can handle light workgroup printing, you'll need a beefier model to juggle a heavy work flow or lots of graphics prints. We find the HP LaserJet 1320 a better value, even for an extra $100; its built-in double-sided printing alone makes the expense worthwhile.

    The 1022 suffers from a few operating glitches, such as overall noisiness--notably loud, grinding sounds when it runs out of paper. And toner runs a costly 3.5 cents a page with the $69.99 toner unit, according to HP's estimates. The EconoMode setting conserves toner, but you might prefer a comparable printer with cheaper consumables, such as the Okidata Oki B4250..............';

It doesn't always save money to buy cheap........ ;)

Hope this helps!HP Laserjet Printer (toner) question?

this is link for HP Laserjet 1022
It's not the printer....it's the cartridge.

This cartridge has a yield of 2,000 pages (based on 5% coverage). I can guarantee that you are printing documents that cover more than 5% of the page, so you can expect less than 2,000 pages per cartridge.

300-500 pages weekly? 1200-2000 monthly...one cartridge per month.

Show this link to the powers that be to convince them you aren't drinking the stuff:

    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/鈥?/a>
Well, here's HP's site for that printer.

The printer's duty cycle is rated at 500-2000 pages a month which seems about what you're doing. 2000 pages per toner cartridge seems about right (12A gets around 2000 pages) unless you're printing ';full'; pages and a lot of dark areas. You can expect a little less in that case.

Try looking for the darkness adjustment and lighten it up a touch.
The average page yield according to HP is 2000 per toner cartridge. Not the best but it seems like you're getting close to it. It's normal but you may want to look at one of the better machines if you want to save on ink. But since the company's paying for the ink I don't think it's the biggest problem.

Could HP LaserJet 1018 Printer toner cartridges refill?

I thinking in buying this printer and I need to know if is good and does the toner cartridges can be refill?Could HP LaserJet 1018 Printer toner cartridges refill?
a few companies will refill toner for you, but your best bet is to find a supplier of remanufactured toner cartridges. a good selection of these can be found at office depot (or online on ebay or similar, i'm sure). you may want to ask the clerks at the store you'll be buying from. they may have better info for you.Could HP LaserJet 1018 Printer toner cartridges refill?
it would be better if u asked in (www.ask.com) well i hope it helps
No NO NO HP has excellent printers but reloading a laserjet will cost about $300 for all four cartridges. They get about 3000 pages each.

How to refill hp laserjet 1018 toner?

I would not try to do it yourself....you could take it to one of those cartridge world places and have them refill it, but I would instead recommend you buy a new compatible cartridge and recycle that empty one.

Search online for the Q2612A and find a compatible with all new parts, not a refilled cartridge. Something like 98% of the moving parts of laser printers are in the toner cartridge, and they just were not designed to be refilled over and over again. But a new compatible cartridge should work just fine.

How to remove laserjet 3p toner cartridge?

apply hammer to front pannelHow to remove laserjet 3p toner cartridge?
you have to open the front door or pull down the front cover , then you can see the toner catridge ,pull it out, apply force if the toner catridge are stcuk up,

wow, in these days you still have hp laserjet3p, i think is is much more cheaper to buy a new laserjet model that keeping your old ones, there is no spareparts available for that model

Changing the quality settings will reduce or increase the amount of toner you use (depends if you go up or down).

As for a cost, going off 5% coverage of all four colors, you are looking at 15 cents per page. This is like gas mileage in a car though, real life is higher.

Check driver settings for ';toner save'; mode or ';draft'; mode turn this off

Do the printers own test pages come out too light ? If so you're probably looking at a hardware issue.

If they are fine, software, so double and treble check software and driver options.

If it seems to be hardware,

    open printer

    remove toner cartridge

Look for the small glass strip window

CLEAN said window with a dry cloth

Dust on this will cause less light to reach the drum in the toner cart, causing a light image.

Also how do you know the image is too light if the printer is brand new ? Have you seen it be darker ?

Still no luck . . drop me an email via Yahoo Ans with some more detail, I can see if I still have the service manual for that range.

    Laserjet toner streaks?

I have an old Laserjet, works great but I've noticed that the toners tend to ';leak';, as in, when I'm printing out a document, the paper will have pagelong streaks of ink on it. The ink does not seem to be running out since all of the things that I print aren't fading, and still has a good black color. I tried to clean it off a couple times and I get a couple clean pages afterward, but then the streaks just come back.

I've had this toner for a couple years now, is that a factor? Has anyone else had this problem?Laserjet toner streaks?
yes the prob is your toner catridge, even do your printout is still good black quality, the cleaner blade inside the cartridge maybe this align or defective it causes spillage of toner on your printout even cleaning drum surface will not solved your prob, old age of your cartridge may be a factor too

    HP Laserjet Toner?

I am hearing that HP dates their cartridges, which means that even if it still has ink in it, when it hits the expiration date on the cartridge, the printer won't print. Is this true, and if so, is it true for all of their ink, ie. laserjet toner cartridges, inkjet cartridges, etc. Thanks much.HP Laserjet Toner?
no, hp runs a timer on how many pages to send a warning, but checks actual levels before it actually stops printingHP Laserjet Toner?
It is not like that, HP will print a install by date on cartridge pack, you need to install the cartridge within install by date, otherwise the ink in cartridge may dry or due to clogged dust particles on cartridge nozzles. If the cartridge is in warranty and s not printing please contact HP support they will replace everything. I am a satisfied customer of HP.

    Laserjet Toner life span?

How long should I expect our black %26amp; white toner to last at our small business office? We print at least a few pages per hour or so.

We tend to change it every few months.

    Thanks!Laserjet Toner life span?
I wish I had your budget. Change it when your printer says it is low on toner. It should last more than a few months with your low usage. You didn't specify with Laserjet to better estimate capacity.Laserjet Toner life span?
It all depends on what you print.

According the HP, on 5% coverage, the Q2612A will get you 2000 pages.

Now the website I get my cartridges from http://www.oinkinkstore.com has a Q2612X that will do about 2800 pages. The 12X is only available as a replacement cartridge.

This all depends on what you print. More black on a page, less pages the cartridge will do.
laserjet 3052 is a multi funtcion printer , you got 4n1 , usaully your toner cartridges will have a printout capacity or 2000-2300 copies/printout per toner

Do not attempt to refill a laser printer toner cartridge yourself. The toner is toxic and can be absorb through the skin as well as the nasal passages. You may also end up destroying the cartridge if you touch the fuser roller, finger print oils cause toner to stick to roller and cause poor print quality.

There are many business available that refill them look in your local business directory/yellow pages or search for one on www.411.com. Refill services are still cheaper then new and you might even be able to buy reconditioned ones already filled on the spot.

Does the driver for HP LaserJet 1018 for VISTA provide toner depletion detection?

Well the old drive for Windows XP actually tells you when to change the toner and when the toner is close to running out. The new drive (for vista, not XP) does not seem to do the same thing. This is an issue for me, because how would I know when to change the toner, and when the toner is depleted? Answers are welcomed! The best technical answer gets my 5 points! I think a clue would be when your pages print in faded black. But I guess with vista you can wait until they come out completely clear.

  • Laserjet Toner?

I am thinking about buying an HP laserjet printer in the near future. I've only owned inkjet printers before this, and I'm tired of having to replace the inkjet cartridges because they dry up before I can finish using them. Also, they're not cheap, as you well know.

We don't use our home printer everyday. Sometimes we don't even turn it on more than once a month. What I was wondering is - does laserjet printer toner become unusable if not used for a long time, like the inkjet ink does, or does it last for a couple of years. I'm thinking that laserjet toner is in powder form already, so it can't dry out since it's already dry? Am I wrong. To replace the toner cartridge would be around $70, which isn't cheap either, but I'm hoping it lasts longer than the inkjet cartridges do. Thanks for any info you can give me.Laserjet Toner?
13 year certified printer tech chiming in.

It's a good decision to move to laser. The machines are more reliable and toner shelf lifes are longer. Expect that your cost for consumables (toner) to cost approximately 1/3 to 1/2 per page of the cost of inkjets. You'll pay more when you replace the cartidge but the yields are higher. Toner usually has a shelf life of around 2 years. After that it will start printing light and gets clumpy with more time.

Toner is made of an iron oxide particle (Micro sized iron filing) that is coated with plastic. Over time, as with other metals, the iron oxide particle will start to decay (like rust) and separate from the plastic. In higher humidity it happens faster, dry climates, slower. But as a rule of thumb, use the two year time frame.

Yields per cartridge vary widely. The more printer you buy, the chaper the cost per page. For your stated volume I would recommend the HP 1020 or 1022 for black and white printing. Both are under $200.00 and really quick.

What ever you choose, I would recommend HP as they have a lion share of the market and they last longer and are easiest to get repaired if something breaks.

I service 17 manufacturer's printers but I only recommend one for general printing. That's HP.

    Hope that helps you.Laserjet Toner?
Yeah they don't dry out because they are already powder.

The toner costs a bit more than ink (unless you replace both back and color cartridges), but you usually get a 5000 page yield out of the laser toner cartridges. A laser is a good investment, you'll get many years of use out of it, and with moderate use you'll probably never change the toner
    shut up
You're right - toner won't dry out or evaporate like ink, so it lasts way longer !!!

Putting ink into your Laser Printer Toners?

    Hi

I have a Brother HL-2030 printer working fine and everything however there's a yellow light on Toner which i'm guessing is out of ink.

When i purchased it the seller told me that there's a little hole on the side of the Toner that I can put ink into or watever so it works.

Is this correct and where can i purchase these ink packs? Whenever i search online they sell the whole toners that cost alot of money.

thxPutting ink into your Laser Printer Toners?
I have 2 Brother HL2040 laser printers which are probably very similar to yours. I found toner (not ink!) on ebay for $6 a bottle. You also need a part called a reset gear or the refill wont work. It's a $3-$4 item. Make sure you get it with the toner (buy from someone who knows what it is and has it). Refilling can be a little messy so wear a plastic glove and do it outdoors or over a newspaper. But it's not that terrible. We've done it a few times over the years. $6 a refill beats $30-$40 per toner.Putting ink into your Laser Printer Toners?
DON'T DO THAT!!! You'll destroy your printer!!!!

You have a laser printer. It uses toner cartridges. Toner is a powder and a laser printer uses heat to fuse the toner powder onto the paper. Ink cartridges (a liquid) are for ink jet printers.

You try putting ink into a toner cartridge and run that through your printer and you'll destroy your printer.

Wow, that seller who told you that doesn't know what he's talking about and I would not trust anything he said. You can refill ink cartridges, but I've never heard of do-it-yourself toner refills.
No worth the effort. For two reasons, you need new toner roll which you will get with re-built toner cartridge. Adding your own toner is big mess. You will cleaning up toner for couple weeks, the power is like baby power goes every where but none where you what. I have pickup new and overstock cartridges on ebay far below retail prices.

Toner is plastic coated iron filings which melt under heat and pressure.

Toner roller becames dirty and leaves lines.

It sounds like one of two things - either the drum is losing its charge and needs replacement or there is something wrong with the black toner. Since you say color works and it started when you replaced the black, I'd suspect the toner.

Why don't you look for something or create a pattern which prints all 4 colors equally on the same locations of the page. If only the black has a problem, you know it's not the drum.

toner is coloured resin pigments that when heated attach to the paper

So the answer is they are not the same as ink but so do a similar jobIs toner the same thing as ink?
No. Toner is dry and baked on to the paper. Ink is wet and sprayed on to the paper. Toner is associated with laser printers and ink with inkjet printers.

Even within ink and toner they are not the same. You cant use toner from one printer for another or ink from one printer for another.

    What is it??

I have heard of copier toner but what exactly is it?

Can i take a printer ink cartridge and put it in a copy machine?? - will it work??

    THanksCopier toner printer ink?
No. Toner is a powder which is derived from carbon and polymer. Ink is liquid and will not work in a copier.

Have you noticed that copiers get really hot? When the light hits the paper the white/light areas are negatively charged while the dark areas are positively charged based on the % of tint on the original. The black powder sticks to the positively charged (dark) areas of the paper and the heat sets it to the page.

Very difficult market to get into. Beating whose prices? Most companies buy at wholesale prices anyway and not retail because it is tax deductible.

Too many companies are going bust at the moment and companies have a habit of sticking to their regular suppliers.

Companies are reluctant to change suppliers, especially to non established companies as they can get supplies so easily either internet or phone through the big boys where they get guaranteed next day delivery and know they have no problems about returning goods if faulty etc.

Wish you well, but you need a good business plan, money behind you and a thick skin for all the rejections! Have you got a professional looking price list printed, business cards etc - you will need these definitely.
face to face, having people ring you up for sales can be very annoying to some, and if this is the case wont give your business a good image, get a few successful sales face to face then start looking at other means

Why does my HP Photosmart printer say 'low toner' now, instead of 'low ink'? Is there a difference?.?

If it indicates low toner or low ink, it means the same. Usually, toner is used in laser printers versus ink used in deskjet. But they basically mean the same thing.

Will an ink spillage cause a Toner Sensor Error on an OKI 3200 printer?

There was a problem with the printer and while trying to remove the cartridge with the ink, the ink came out and spilled all inside the printer. It worked for a while but now shows Toner Sensor Error. The ink was cleaned somewhat, but still has some inside the printer. Help! Will an ink spillage cause a Toner Sensor Error on an OKI 3200 printer?
Toner consists of microscopic plastic beads and carbon flakes.

Spilled toner seems easy enough to clean up initially, but usually causes problems later on. As you continue to print the components heat up. The spilled toner ';bakes';, adhering to anything hot enough for it to stick to, such as fuser rollers, gears, the motor, fans and other internals.

For the same reasons, DO NOT USE A REGULAR VACUUM TO CLEAN UP SPILLED TONER!!!!! Regular vacuums use air to cool their motors, air which passes through the filter. The problem here is that toner particles are so small that they too pass through the filter.

While fixing the single sensor error might resolve your problem in the short term, other parts are already contaminated, each of which will fail successively until the source of the contamination, the spilled toner, is removed.

Baked on toner is extremely difficult to remove and it requires using strong chemicals which themselves are especially hard on delicate plastic parts.

Don't try to fix this yourself. Your not a printer technician!

Stop printing and power off the printer immediately. Call an OKI printer repair facility in your area. They'll know what to do and they'll have all the tools, chemicals, manuals and experience.

This is going to cost some money but might not be a disaster. They'll want to see how bad it is before they can give you a solution, suggestion or alternative.

If you're stuck and need a printer, they probably be able to set you up with a loaner or rental unit until yours is fixed.

    Sorry... there's no easy fix.

PRINTERS: Difference between INK cartridges and TONER cartridges??

    What are toner cartridges for?

My printer seems to be running out; can I still print things out?PRINTERS: Difference between INK cartridges and TONER cartridges??
Ink cartridges are used in Inkjet printers and squirt out liquidy ink to print pages. Toner cartridges use a different kind of dry ink that is heated and fused with the printed paper.

Yes, you can continue printing, but you will notice that the text/images you are printing become less and less visible and/or increasingly discoloured as your ink or toner runs out.PRINTERS: Difference between INK cartridges and TONER cartridges??
Ink cartridges are used in inkjet printers. Toner cartridges are used in laser printers.

You can print until you're out of ink or toner, whichever you use. Then it stops.

Which uses more toner ink? recycled paper or regular?

They use the same amount of toner if the settings are the same for each paper. The amount of toner is determined by the imaging system not by the type of paper. The quality of the image formed is probably effected by the type of paper and so if the printer can be set to different settings for different types of paper it will certainly used different amounts of ink because of the different settings.

Generally the image quality will be affected by the whiteness, smoothness, and the absorption characteristics of the paper. Recycled paper is not as white and has more variability in fiber sizes than paper made from virgin fibers. Therefore it is harder to make recycled paper of with equal imaging quality. However, recycled paper can offer good mid-range quality. The highest quality photo paper would have very low recycled content though.Which uses more toner ink? recycled paper or regular?
thank you so much for your answers. you guys are the best. i will definitely be coming back for any wisdom i need. thanks again Report Abuse
Which uses more toner ink? recycled paper or regular?
Your printer has a setting that regulates the amount of ink it uses during a print job. It will use the same amount whether you print on regular paper, recycled paper, sponge, or a paper bag.

    Hope this helps.
I would think that recycled paper would use more toner ink because it is probably more porous than ';new'; paper. Like an old washed towel absorbs more water than a new unwashed towel would....just my guess though.
I don't know, but if you want to use less ink when you print and it is just for text, put your printer on a ';draft'; output and if you don't require colour use the ';greyscale'; button. This way you use less ink and I don't find that it effects the look of what I am printing much.

    Which is cheaper,ink or toner?

thinking of buying a copier.some use ink,and some use toner?which is cheaper to refill?Which is cheaper, ink or toner?
I'd have to say toner is more expensive, but it is more efficient and cost-effective.

    Ink costs less.

If you purchased a refill ink for ink cartridges, the ink would cost less. Otherwise when you buy the full ones at store, they go from $15-20.

If you do heavy office work, a laser (toner) is best. But if it's home or personal use, the ink can suffice.Which is cheaper, ink or toner?
FYI: within the ink category there are 2 'breeds'

    A) Pigment based

    B) Dye based

Pigments last much longer than dyes, so for printing color fotos that will last much longer %26amp; retain that 'crisp' look, go for this variety.

For several years I had Lexmark's (X63) and the cartridge cost (Walmart) was in the $40 range.

I bought a Kodak, all in one, with wifi, for little more than the cost of 4 Lexmark refills. Plus they don't require driver re-installs (into XP) over and over like the Lexmark did.

Have a look at the Kodak line: worth the effort.

Printer that doesn't use ink or toner?

Has any company made a revolutionary printer that doesn't use ink or toner?Printer that doesn't use ink or toner?
There are (or were anyway) printers that use ';thermal transfer';. They used to sell them, but they have really dropped from popularity, primarly because they suck.

Many register reciepts still use thermal transfer. For starters you need special, expensive, paper, which is very flimsy. Secondly, if the paper is subsequently exposed to any heat, like say you set your coffee cup down on it, or leave it in sunlight, it turns brown.

Alps makes some printers that use ';dye suplimation'; (sp?), which uses a slightly different kind of ink than most ink jets, but still uses ink.Printer that doesn't use ink or toner?
Yes, they are called ZINK (pronounced zinc) printers, and Polaroid is the latest company to be selling one as a photo printer. It prints pretty good full color pictures but they have to be printed on special paper.

Also, thermal printers which print with heat were very common in the past in fax machines. Braile printers also print without ink by making bumps on paper.

Also dye sublimation technically doesn't use ink or toner, but dye, in a very interesting process, to print on paper and plastic.

The problem is, nothing looks as good or is as economical to use as ink or toner on paper, so it will stick around for quite a while.
Yes, but you can't see what it printed. How can it print without. there are faxes which use a ribbon, but these cost about 5 times the price of cartridge inks per copy.
no but that's a good one Jonathan.

Will this question is a bit strange and may be i didn't understand it but i will try to answer for what i understood. and my talk here about the laser printers not the inkjet printers.

The ink cartridge contains of several parts ( drum - toner place - some michainical parts ) .

    1) if you are in a good country you through out your cartridge in the carbage and some company took it and melt it down and use the plastic parts.

    2) but if you in a poor country like mine( egypt ) we get another toner package and open the cartridge and fill it with toner again.

    3) How we do this : the traders of comuters here import this toner ( from eastern Aisa ) in big packages and they cut it in small packages and sell .

    4) The last part of your question depends on two things :

    a) the condition of the drum , if it have many stripes on it so it is over and you got to get rid of it and get another one, if the drum is good then you can change the toner only.

    5) from where to buy the toner and the drum if you needed it ( any computer shop ) and of course i don't know do they get these things in your country or not.

I hope this answer will satisfy you .
The diabetes association has a web site where they recycle ink cartridges. I am not sure about the computers, but some places where they sell computers they also take them for recycle for schools and other places where children need computers.
I usually put the empty cartridges in an old coffee can. Then take them to my cities recycle center. The will either incenerate them or sell them for recycling.

Check with your City Hall to see if they have Clean Up days. This is where you can put out dangerous chemicals like paints , used oil, household cleaner etc. and the city will pick them up and dispose of them properly. My city does this twice a year. The other day the city counsel approved adding two additional time each year. Now there will be clean up days every 3 months. I love it.
Take the toners to a pc repair shop they refurbish. ink cartrige throw away and buy new. Computer and printers take them to the pay dump. Or I found a website that recycles.

Can I buy toner to re-fill my printer's ink cartridge, and do it myself?

. . . or, do I have to have them ';refurbished'; all the time? I have a laserjet 1012 printer, and I'm fed up with purchasing costly cartridges when it seems that I should simply be able to re-fill it with toner ink.Can I buy toner to re-fill my printer's ink cartridge, and do it myself?
The Q2612A is smart chipped, you will also need to purchase the chip in order for the toner to register.

ANother problem you will encounter is that the electrostatic roller (that green roller on the front of the cartridge will break down. This means that you will not be able to use the full refilled toner, your print quality will degrade.

Also if the toner is not sealed properly over filled or filled with an incompatible toner, the powder will leak causing irreparable damage to your printer.

So yes you can refill them, however not without a huge headache. Can I buy toner to re-fill my printer's ink cartridge, and do it myself?
I would advise against trying to refill your own cartridges. It's a messy job, and often times you can run into issues with the chips and your printer ink monitor. I'd suggested by remanufactured cartridges instead, which are usually about 30-40% cheaper than buying genuine HP replacements. I buy my cartridges at http://www.castleink.com
its actually a matter of preference and finance.. hahahah refilling your cartridges risks the quality of the output your trying to print out especially when your printing designs and layout.. i think buying a new ink cartridge would be better :)

The X versions usually offer anywhere from a 25% to 2 times the number of pages compared to the A version.

This in turn makes a lower cost per page for the customer. The 2 reasons they offer the A versions is 1. Most people won't pay more to save more 2. Some printers will only take the A cartridge.

I have a Canon toner for copy machine. can i refill the toner with ink?

yes or no? if yes, how?I have a Canon toner for copy machine. can i refill the toner with ink?
Ink and toner are two different things. Toner is a fine, dry powder, and ink is either water, or oil based. I wouldn't recommend filling an empty toner cartridge with ink, as it will most likely ruin both the cartridge, and the machine.

If you decide to refill the toner cartridge, be careful how you proceed. Make sure it won't void the manufacturers warranty for the machine, check to make sure the cartridge is actually refillable (most cartridges aren't), ensure you have the correct type of toner, and a good method in place for catching any overflow. Toner is VERY FINE, and can easily be blown into every corner of your house. Even the A/C gently blowing on it can cause chaos.

My recommendation: purchase a new cartridge. Refilled ones sometimes don't work very well, and refilling them yourself can be more of a headache than a help. If you decide to purchase an after-market cartridge, purchase it from a reputable source.

Theres usually a tab or strip that seals the toner for shipping, you have to remove this before you install it.

Where can I find a company that buys used toner & ink cartridges?

I don't think you'll find anyone to buy them The whole reason they recycle them is not just that it's good for the environment, but because it's cheaper for them to make the cartriges. So most take them for free. If you just want to get rid of them, go to Walmart and the clerk in Electronics will give you a postage stamped bag to put them in.Where can I find a company that buys used toner %26amp; ink cartridges?
Ive been taking my hp laser cartridge to staples and getting store credit. Three cartridges will give you 3 coupons for a maximum of $9 of a single purchase.

Just today i found this site: http://www.tonerbuyer.com .

i don't know if they are any good but supposedly they pay cash. Report Abuse

You can go here %26amp; recycle them:

Or, list them on Ebay. I actually have some for sale on Ebay right now. Many Ink companies scour Ebay looking for empty cartridges %26amp; I get more money for them there.
    Walgreens does.
Staples will give you $3.00 credit for each HP cartridge (they don't want off brands).
    search google.com
i dont know who buys them but i think that office depot will give you a discount or credit towards another purchase.
Most services like IKON or other printer repair services will give you a refund on toner cartridges you purchase if you turn in your old one. Have not found anyplace the purchases them thou

Ink & Toner business misrepresentation - what are my rights?

The company I work with acquired another printer from one of our locations that closed. I recently placed an order for toner from the company that we have a service/toner contract with. A couple of days later I get a call from someone saying they're with ';Inventory Control Center'; verifying my order that I placed for toner. I assume that this was the company I have the contract with since I did not call this 2nd party. I receive toner several days later from ';Inventory Control Center'; with an invoice (which I shouldn't be receiving since we have a contract with the other company) - so this is my tip off that this company has misrepresented themeselves. I called them and left two messages but with no return call. I returned the package they sent and they refused it. I spoke to someone in their accounting dept. and the girl I spoke to said she'd have to get with someone in shipping to send out a call tag (for pickup) but that there's a restocking fee. I find this unacceptable.Ink %26amp; Toner business misrepresentation - what are my rights?
Oooh...that scam has been running for many years....I'm really not sure what you can do about it now....if you have a service agreement with a compnay, they won't call you - you must call them to place an order. Always verify what company is calling you. As soon as they know you're onto them, they hang up immediately. I would say don't pay the bill....I think you need more legal advice than I can give you. Perhaps if you didn't use a call tag, and just shipped it back at your expense with a letter explaining that the package should've been refused when it came in...good luck on that.
