Check driver settings for ';toner save'; mode or ';draft'; mode turn this off
Do the printers own test pages come out too light ? If so you're probably looking at a hardware issue.
If they are fine, software, so double and treble check software and driver options.
If it seems to be hardware,
open printer
remove toner cartridge
Look for the small glass strip window
CLEAN said window with a dry cloth
Dust on this will cause less light to reach the drum in the toner cart, causing a light image.
Also how do you know the image is too light if the printer is brand new ? Have you seen it be darker ?
